My wife, the coin collector?

I've been watching her look at and read 'my' Red Book and thumb through 'my' coin magazines. So last night as she was looking at yet another of 'my' coin mags, I asked if she was learning anything. She replied that she really liked the wheaties and the ancients....hummm, where did this lingo come from?

I decided I would grant her wish for wheaties and ordered a 1909-1958 5,000 count bag, I'm hoping the memorials will appeal to her also, as I ordered a 1959-1982 5,000 count bag of those too. Should keep her busy for a few days....or so.

I ordered these two books last week:
A Guide Book of Lincoln Cents (The Official Red Book)
Looking Through Lincoln Cents: A Chronology of a Series

Looks like they'll come in handy, and I'm hoping she'll become a Lincoln cent expert, and maybe my (our) coin budget will increase :high5:

Good luck to her and I hope she catches the fever. That way it will be easier to convince her that you really do need that 09S VDB and the 22 no D cent. :D I'm sure there are a couple sponsers here that could help you out. ;)

I read somewhere that women control about 85% of all the money spent in the world. Most men just don't know it though because women don't brag about that. Men would. So who in any family buys all the food, clothing, books, furniture, rugs, drapes and today even the family car? Who has the final say on a house?
And you never know your wife may have been a coin collector for a while and just never told you. They do things like that.
A long time ago I was telling a young lady, delicate, female, eventually my wife, all about guns. We went shooting together and she brought her own guns. WHAT, your own guns?

But, Ardatirion, if I let her buy ancients it will reduce my coin allowance  because now she'll be buying coins too. Just kidding, if you guys who collect ancients can give me some resources, web and/or books, that I can pass along it would be appreciated, I think they are really cool but I have zero knowledge about them.

I think she bugs me about going to coin shows more than I want to go, typically, there aren't to many around here and most are at about two hours away. With a one year old son (tomorrow 4/16 :kewl: ) it makes it kinda hard, since he has to poop and eat and nap every few hours. I think it's great she has developed an interest since she has no interest in my drag racing or climbing. And, she did have a very small collection that I did know about ( a few wheats, some Ikes, some Kennedy's, a few SBAs, etc) but she seems to be developing a much larger interst, it may be because I'm selling it as something we can pass along to our son.

I'm trying to get her to take a concealed carry class since she walks from Class A office space to a parking garage in downtown, where all the bums hang, and carry my old .38 with +P. I've since replaced my nightstand 'protection' with a Springfield XDM40, so anyone who walks up my stairs will be falling right back down them!

Now if only I could find a guy willing to overlook my coin collecting. The closest I've come is an old coworker who is going to give me his grandfathers coin collection as soon as he can dig it out of the garage. Because he has "never met anyone other than his grandpa who looks through coins with such enthusiasm" other than that no one.

Start out with a .22 and/or air gun. A freind of mine did that with his wife and now she outshoots him and me too.
My better half came from a farm and not only collects coins, shoots guns but she changes the oil on our cars too and has HER own tools.
