Okay I thought that this would be interesting (to me). I have in front of me my notes that I have found (all in circulation none bought) and I was going to list them and get each of your opinions as to the ones that you would keep and the ones that you would spend. Edited to add I also just decided to take quick pics and post them. They are really quick pics just to give a clue as to the note. I will not hold any hard feelings towards someones opinion so be honest obviously I didn't pay anything over face for them so I'm not losing so it's not a big deal to me. I am new to this and just curious if some of the notes that interest me interest others. So here is my list and let me know which ones you personally would keep. Also I'm sure that some of them maybe you would keep just because it's a $1 so if that's the reason let me know. Let's say you see one that is not that big of a deal to you but you would keep it because it's just $1 but wouldn't keep it in a larger denomination then say that. I also have a few at work that I don't have info on right now that I may add tomorrow to get opinions on those as well as to whether or not they are worth saving IYO. Some of these $1 Stars are when I first started collecting and didn't realize how often I would find stars so I was grabbing them up and saving them. LOL Probably a lot of them are nothing special. The first is a series 2006 St. Louis H 49719143 B this is the interesting side (to me) $20 1969 C St. Louis H 40367357 A 2003 A Atlanta $1 Star F 16360557 * 2006 $1 STAR San Francisco L 0588778 * 1934 A San Francisco L 44389398 A $5 Atlanta 2006 HF 24122142 B $20 STAR 1988 A Chicago G 01164808 * 1995 $5 St. Louis H 27022966 B 2003 STAR $5 Philadelphia DC 00006660 * $1 2003 A Atlanta F 00000777 C $1 STAR Kansas City J 00805635 * $1 STAR Dallas K 03391362 * 2003 A $1 STAR 2003 F 06326643 * Atlanta $1 STAR 2006 San Francisco L 00052317 * $1 STAR 2003 Chicago G 07939702 * $1 STAR Atlanta F 14312889 * $1 2003 A Philadelphia C 51155511 A
Well, I would personally keep the 00006660* and 00000777 notes as well as all three 20's - especially the 1934. Oh, and that George Washington Ink through is pretty cool too! I would look up the star notes to see how common or rare they are. here's a link with both links http://usmoneyfacts.com/resources.html
$1 1963 A Chicago G 28346784 F $1 San Francisco 2006 L22222803 K $1 New York 2006 B 33099077 B $5 2003 A STAR Chicago FG 00629107 * $1 STAR New York 2006 B 00005786 * $5 STAR Philadelphia 2003 DC 00006085 * $1 St. Louis 2006 H 00026610 B $1 2006 St. Loius H 00005119 B
Thanks yes those are some of my favs. My son brought me home the 00000777 and I almost bought a Sonic drink with it. OOPS! I added some more.
I'd keep them all except the STL $5. IDK whick ones will bring a premium, but the others are cool enough (for me) to keep. Its not alot of $$ to keep to the side.
That was one I've questioned but the only reason I kept it is because it was one of the better condition older style 5's that I've found so far. I'm sure I won't keep that one forever. You're right that this isn't alot of money to keep tied up so it's not a big deal to save these. Just curious as to what things you guys keep from circulation that you may not find interesting enough to post on here but is interesting enough for you to keep.
For me, it's like forming a circ set of coins. I keep until I find a better one from the same series/block unless its an oddity like a radar or something. Those I keep forever as a few dollars will never make a difference on losing a house or something.
2006 St. Louis H 49719143 B - i would let go, but i can never tell if the ink is bleed through, or an impression for another note. $1 2003 A Philadelphia C 51155511 A - i would also let this one go... its a cool seriela, but not muchelse. $1 San Francisco 2006 L22222803 K - same thing $1 New York 2006 B 33099077 B - and the same thing here too... $1 St. Louis 2006 H 00026610 B - i would keep this only because i am a nerd and love seeing lots of zeros $1 2006 St. Loius H 00005119 B - yup.. this one too as for the rest ... all those stars - KEEP... all those older notes... KEEP my humble opinion
Nice finds KD... I would go nut's if were working in a Bank..  :smile Just think I would work over time for free just to go thur and inspect!! RickieB
LOL Well part of my job now is going through shipments so I get to personally touch almost every bill that comes into the branch. A customer brought in several hundred in 1's the other day and the teller sold them to the vault so I get to go through those today. The funny thing is now the tellers at work are looking for things for me. Coins too. One was going through nickels and pennies a couple of days ago asking me what I keep. LOL
yeah working at a bank is pretty nice for a currency collector. my branch is very busy so i handle so much cash. i have pretty much stopped going through straps anymore it can become tedious. if i spot something out of the ordinary i grab it. of course any old notes or chicago notes i grab. i did pick up this the other day:goofer::bigeyes: 1950 E $50 NEW YORK FRN
I love collecting all notes so if it caught my attention to start with I would keep it. If I worked at a bank I would go broke
That is pretty cool. Our branch is slower so I have time to go through the straps. Plus I have to go through all straps and get out the mute money before we add it to our cash dispenser or ATM so it gives me a chance to go through it.
i actually put the notes i want into my mutilated pile in my drawer so i dont end up giving away the notes i do want. i use to go through straps but we just get to much each day to physically go through them all
