I don't really like the "toning".

 

Nice strike, but where's the luster?

 

The luster looks muted. I see it but the coin looks cleaned. Maybe it's the light but the photo looks pixilated or whatever you call that. Like a cartoon.

 

I thought it was a scan.

That would explaiin the dullness. Scanners just never show the lustre.

 

and the detail of the image. This is a much better than the run of the mill strike

 

That doesn't look like a scan at all to my eye.... The first clue is the coin has been photographed at an angle (very atypical of scans). The second clue is the way what luster that is left is portrayed -- it looks like a photo of muted luster and not completely flat like a scan would. All IMHO...Mike

 

p.s. the photograph also appears to be (over)sharpened.

 

p.p.s. and a high level of compression yielding smoothed fields. zoom into the original and see for yourself.
