I would call it a nice VG from those pictures.

Judging from the picture I'd say VG-8...

OK bigger picture up. just click the image. I guessed it would be a low VG . Its nice to hear a consensus to tell if what I think I am grading is actually close.

It's better than mine which is slabbed PCGS G-6, but not by much.
I think VG-8 is a good technical grade.
Could go VG-10 for market grade.

I was thinking about getting a bunch of my coins graded but I am not looking to sell and don't need to spend the money for grading right now. I will post some of my other coins as I get them uploaded as well.

Tough to say from the photos, but if it's real, I'd grade it a VG details, cleaned/?damaged?, net G.

p.s. TPGs do give this coin the old "key date grade bump", IMO.

I agree with the others, VG-8 looks like the grade. I'm not an expert with 1893-S Morgan's, but the 3 in the date looks funny. It almost looks too high. I don't know if this is a normal trait of the S coins, but it certainly looks higher than the 3 on my 1893-CC.

Send to PCGS as these coins are fakes often. Nice coin if real, and agree with the VG or so, but no expert in judging these lower grades.

I think it is in the VG range also, but the lower curls look a little odd. Can't tell from the photos, but might take a close look with a loupe to see if it may have been tooled a little.

I was just posting that I thought it to be authentic...

One of the things I learned about originals is that the one in the date will sit directly over the denticle just below it. The 1893 S is the only one of the 93's that sits like this... so if it was altered from a different mintmark this would not be the case. There is also some die markers in the "T" of liberty... but those are hard to get a good pic of. But if I was a betting man... I'd put money on this one being an authentic piece.

lol I did the same thing too with the denticles :high5:. I didn't know about the T, thanks for the info.

I'm a little hazy guys. What exactly do you mean by sitting on the denticles? Do you mean that the numbers on the date sit exactly on top of individual denticles?
