Hi. I don't have a picture of my coin, but I have a Indian Head penny that is dated to 1902. I need some help, because I went to a site and I evaluated my coin with the help of an expert, however, I need a little more detail. I am brand new at this so I need a bunch of opions. Please, email me if you replly to this post. Okay, so my problem is that I know what my coin is rated. It's: MS VG-8 RD. The thing is, I don't know what the number of (VG-8) is.

Like I've seen gradings that say, MS 65 RD. What is the equivalent number to VG-8? And how low do the ratings go?

    Sincerely yours,

I need help or I'll go crazy!

    I.N.H.O.I.G.C for short...Lol!

Speedy what he is sayingis that his coinis VG-8 andwants to know a value for his coin but all he has seen is stuff like MS65.

In response to the originalpost a grade of VG-8 translates to Very Good 8. 8 is the number from the Sheldon Scale. It is the Numerical designation for your coin. The lowest a coin can get is PO1 unless it is given a net grade where points are deducted from that figure. I have seen one coin graded -5 in an Anacs slab. Current pricing for a 1902 Indian cent in VG8 is $1.50. Not much but I hope it is a start for you in numismatics. Hope this helps.

It doesn't work that way at CoinTalk. One of the primary purposes of the forum is education, and private responses do not further that purpose. In addition, usually such requests are legitimate, but there are scammers and phishers out there looking for email boxes they can inundate with spam or malicious viruses, tracking cookies, etc. Until we know you better - and we hope we'll get that opportunity - many of us prefer not to disclose our email addresses. :)

Welcome! Have no idea on the cent though. Don't know a whole lot on IHCs.
