It would actually be 'machine doubling' - 'mechanical doubling' is not really the overall accepted term... and what's on this coin is die deterioration, which is common on 1946 cents. It's what wore the date out. I don't see anything at all out of the usual on the mintmark so I am unable to see what you are trying to refer to as a RPM. I would like to know where you think you see the spread so I can answer to what you see rather than just say I don't see it.
I think hes just trying to get other opinions on the coin I do see speration on the mm as well as notching as i indicated in red arrows. JC
Well, there's a big difference between viewing a coin in hand and seeing photographs that were taken through a slab with poor lighting for the job. I'm not knocking the photographer here, but if you take images and cannot easily make out what you're trying to show, nobody else is going to be able to make it out either. Even with arrows I cannot make out anything in the image that resembles an RPM. Sorry. A different image or the coin itself in hand would be necessary for me to be able to help.
I don't like this type set up at all, I don't like this type set up at all, what were you hoping to do here? You asked us (with a poor photo that showed mostly a machine doubled coin) if it was an RPM knowing all the while that it was? You may need to think about growing up a little - what were you hoping to do? You have a coin you know is a certified variety and you don't tell us, or show us but solicit our comments? Is this some type of game you want to play? I ain't playing. I don't like being baited at all.
Well I didn't feel like that at all so I didn't feel baited i don't know were your coming from with that statement.I think it's all in your mind. JC
Jello what is it your looking for? Are you questioning the certification and looking for opinions or what?
Back in 1999 I send the coin to ANACS. think it maybe a new find D/S. and came back as RPM-10. Plus I am the one who sent the picture of the RPM that listed at www. coppercoin.com I thought Chuck would know this one.
Well lets all go mystery shopping, what a waist of time Well lets all go mystery hopping, what a waist of time. You show us a certified RPM with a bad photo of same and hope someone can possibly guess what's on your mind or recall some event in the past. Don't waist my time with silly nonsence like this.
Okay...so STILL...why did you post it here without any information trying to hook someone into mistaking it as something else? It has been certified by ANACS, it was used as the plate coin for my site, so where's the question?? I do agree that the coin is the same one listed on my site, but the photos were NOT taken by you. We do not use collector's photos on the site, we take all the photos used there.
Well for your information that happens to be a very good photo, I could make out that it is an RPM. I don;t know why you can't. I think that;s very rude of you to make a comment about wasting your time. JC
The proof is in the pudding - sometimes I am rude when I feel The proof is in the pudding - sometimes I am rude when I feel like I've been jerked around - if you don't see anything wrong or just plain stupid about that thread then we have nothing in common. So we can ask about an already attributed third party graded coin but not divulge what we know about it and let everyone lurk around in the dark because we choose to be elusive, get a grip!
