Got some pics! Thanks for the tip, it worked (well, it's getting there!!!). I'm still practicing, these pics aren't the best, so please be gentle in your critique! What I once would have classified as tarnish or "ick" on the coins, a number of them actually have toning, something that a month ago I didn't truly know what that was, and would have tried to clean these off! The pic doesn't do the Roosevelt dime any justice, both the front and the back show a rainbow of colors in the light, especially green. A number of the Roosevelts have red toning just on his hair, making him look like a redhead! All in all, I have about 150 mercs and 100 Roosevelt's, maybe about 50 total toned rather nicely, the rest do have tarnish but I'm not touching them! Back to the camera for more practicing! Thanks everyone for all the great tips and sharing your knowledge with this newbie!!
Good Dime Photographs. I find those very hard to take clear pictures of because they are so small, they are hard even for my macro lens. Ruben
Thanks Ruben! I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I did on my camera to finally get it to focus - I found the manual focus button thanks to TheNoost, then it took me over an hour of fiddling around with all the settings to finally get it to allow me to zoom in. Now if only I can repeat what I did to get more pics!! :goof:
That happens all the time to me, and to make it worse, I take hundreds of shots at a time making it impossible to know the settings on the shots I like best. BTW - this is what happens if you smoke too much near your coins
