1864 Two Cent Die Break

    That's a die crack, and they are somewhat common on 2 cent coins. Although neat, it doesn't warrant premium value.

    CoinKeeper,

    That is a nice rim to rim Die Crack which is considered collectible by some and for which some folks would pay a premium! The Die more than likely failed not long after your' coin was struck and it's failure would have resulted in some later pieces with a big Cud in that area. Maybe you could find and purchase some later specimens showing the Die Breaks developing and then the Cud. A collection of Two Cent pieces showing the Die Failure progression is hard to come by, is very collectible and worth a premium!
