Spock, I really know very little about Indias coins but does that coin mean to say "75 YEARS OF GHANDI MARCH? If I'm totally off here It's because of my lack of knowledge of the coinage of India. Bruce
He's been working on me for over a year to collect coins from India....maybe if I start my collection with some rare coins, that may help!
Possibly too late for a comment, but since I'm originally from India, I couldn't help commenting. It is indeed "Dandi March" and not "Gandhi march". The Dandi march was undertaken and lead by Gandhi as a non-violent protest against the British salt tax. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dandi_March
You are most welcome. Yes indeed, it is a beautiful coin...I don't have it yet though!! Need to put my folks back home to work and get me a nice set of Indian coins! :loud:
is that the actual pic of the dandi march coin? never seen so many details on that one as i get most of them from the circulation.. ...Btw is Mumbai mint the only one to make these? never seen any other mint mark on it. can u plz post a pic of what a "2 rs clashed dies coin" is? i have some desc of 5 types of 2rs coin in KM but dont have any pics.. Thx
i would if i could post pics but 2 rs clashed dies is just that u can see the 2 fingers on the other side of the coin. just like the edward coin i posted the other day u could see his neck and head onthe other side. for some reason i never liked clashed dies on us coins but on indian coins they are cool well that one is actually the back of the 100 re coin the 5 re coin doesnt have as many details. as far i know bombay mint was the only one.
