Hey everyone! I recently acquired this 1693 Lily Counterstamped French Colonial coin. I found out that it was more than I bargained for  It turned out to be a re-coined Sol struck over an earlier Billon Douzain which actually had the 1640 fleur-de-lys counterstamp. So basically, this had 3 different types of coins stuck on one planchet! Feel free to look at the pictures and judge for yourself! Let me know what ya'll think
The French were known to take older coins and restamp them. It was sort of a way the new king could do away with the mark of the old king. Us toads call it P*ssing Rights. I totally love it and am mega jealous! :thumb: Ribbit
That is one very confused coin I hope that you keep it in a nice dark place till it regains its identity :high5:
