    Hey everyone! :)

I recently acquired this 1693 Lily Counterstamped French Colonial coin. I found out that it was more than I bargained for

It turned out to be a
re-coined Sol struck over an earlier Billon Douzain which actually had the 1640 fleur-de-lys counterstamp. So basically, this had 3 different types of coins stuck on one planchet! :D Feel free to look at the pictures and judge for yourself! Let me know what ya'll think :)

The French were known to take older coins and restamp them. It was sort of a way the new king could do away with the mark of the old king. ;) Us toads call it P*ssing Rights. :D

I totally love it and am mega jealous! :thumb:

    Ribbit :)

That is one very confused coin :D I hope that you keep it in a nice dark place till it regains its identity :high5:
