Ok I'm starting from scratch on my Lincoln set, and I am trying to set some prices I can expect to pay for the following coins.

I am wanting them to be MS60-MS61 or better, and preferrably all graded by NGC, and as much as possible, all proofs minus a couple.

The reason I want to do that is just because I want to feel more at ease with purchasing some of these, and I think it will look nice if they are all graded by the same company when I display them. So here goes:

    1909 S VDB cent: $1200
    1918 Illinois Commemorative Half: $100
    1959 cent: $50
1991 Mt. Rushmore Commemorative half: $35
    1991 Silver Dollar Commemorative: $40
    1991 Gold $5 Commemorative: $425
    2003 Illinois State Quarter: $20
2006 South Dakota State Quarter: $20
    2009 Lincoln Cents: $ ???
    2010 Lincoln Cent: $???
    2010 Presidential Dollar: $???

So if you think my estimates are off, let me know! I've got quite a few of these coins in lesser grades, but I really am gonna strive for the higher grades. I've also already got the Lincoln silver dollars, just haven't had them graded. If there are any U.S. coins portraying Lincolns image that I've not listed here, feel free to add them!

I'm only doing BU 60 prices unless I state otherwise...

1909 S VDB cent: $1200 (raw in MS 60 go for almost $2300)

1918 Illinois Commemorative Half: $100 (This is a bit low Numis media says $138 but I'm thinking that may still be a bit low.)

1959 cent: $50 (To high. Raw it's worth a couple dollars so a slabbed 60 will only be $8 -$10)

1991 Mt. Rushmore Commemorative half: $35 (Numismedia says to high $6 for the BU & Proof)

1991 Silver Dollar Commemorative: $40 ( regardless of which one Numis media says $10 a pop.)

    1991 Gold $5 Commemorative: $425 (Numis media says $216)

2003 Illinois State Quarter: $20 (P's & D's raw are $2 or less in MS 63, Proofs are almost always PR65 so the clad will be $7 - $12 & Silver ones are also listed at about that price range on Numis media.)

2006 South Dakota State Quarter: $20 (Same as Illinois)

2009 Lincoln Cents: $ ??? (In another thread some one stated that MS66 slabbed ones were going for $50. With over 800 million just made you can get raw BU's cheap slabbing may cost more than the value of the coin.)

2010 Lincoln Cent: $??? ( It's 2009 & April ask again next year when they exist.) LOL
    2010 Presidential Dollar: $???

No if the prices you quoted are what your willing to spend on a coin you can definitely get better than 60's.

    FWIW, MS-62 09-S VDB's are going for $1600 to $1900 on Heritage.

Thank you guys for your responses. Seems like I overshot a few of them and undershot the big one lol! I'll have to sell my motorcycle for that one it seems, but that's ok I don't ride it much anyway.

My advice never go for MS-60,61?

Your question raises several points - are you saying you want proof 60, or 61???
My advice never go for MS or Pr.-60,61? You could go up to MS or Pr.-63, 64 or AU-58 - those would be my only choices.
Please check your pricing and grading info carefully - I've never seen a coin I would be proud to own in MS or Pr.-60 or 61 unless it was really rare - none of the coins you mention are - if fact those (the grades you mentioned) are usually the dogs of the coin world - all it says is that they are UNC. I urge you to re-consider you criteria.

Yeah I actually want a little higher grade I was just putting that as a minimum, like for example the 1909 S VDB, to be honest that coin, to me, is very expensive, so it will take up quite a bit of my resources to get it in any kind of MS grade, so I don't think I'd be able to afford it in MS65, that's really the only one I'm concerned about. I do agree with you though, I would like the "cheaper" ones to be MS65 or higher.

    WOW!
From what you say your going to attempt to have all of thoes in slabs. That means all coins from 1909 to present? All error coins? All varieties of the 22 plain, 60's, 70S's, 82's, Wide and close AM's, All proofs?? All from NGC?
All MS-60, -61 or even better?
Hopefully your a wealthy individual with a large house with at least one spare room for a mountain of Plastic.
I'm now on my 11 th set of Lincoln Cents and all in Whitman Classic Albums. I do not have and never will have a plastic slabbed coin. Have had them but took the coins out.

haha no i wish though:) No I am just getting a single 1909 S VDB, a single 1959 Lincoln, and the four 2009 Lincoln proofs, as well as the other coins listed. Yeah, the other way would be WAY too expensive. I'm gonna have a hard time getting the '09 S VDB, let alone if I were gonna try for all of them.

It'll end up being 14-15 coins, but I do appreciate your enthusiasm;) :thumb::D

Thanks Jack. Yeah I just used Numis media as an online referance. Granted I could have used red book but searching online is easier. Granted I did say shop around but do be careful. If your not buying ones already slabbed some companies say they are selling Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) coins at Extremely Fine (XF) rates only to find out that you actually did buy an XF grade coin.
