Nyatii I like running w/scissors. Makes me feel dangerous

My wife was choking one day and I offered to do the Hemlock Maneuver. She wouldn't let me.

Wish more people would learn to do this.

That reminds me of a story about two hikers who come upon a mama bear and her cubs. One of the hikers begins taking off his boots and putting on his sneakers. The other hiker whispers, "What are you doing?! You can't out run a bear!". The first hiker replies, "I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you!".

    So...the next time I go hiking, I'm bringing a Corgi! :)

If you can’t figure that out then you haven’t been following events. Bringing people together to me does not mean doing things that irk large portions of the population.

Our government has already started to erase history. They are removing all Confederate statutes and their battle flag. I guess they want us to believe that it was a one sided war, with a one sided issue, It was not according to the declaration of war. I was taught that the civil war was not won but settled, and part of that settlement was the United States Capitol was to be in Washington D.C.

    Here's my take...

The U.S. Constitution, alongside free-market Capitalism and the Christian ethos, is the elegant culmination of thousands of years of human development. It's the only system that allows a diverse community to grow and evolve while respecting the rights and aspirations of others.

In her lifetime, I'm sure Harriet Tubman was considered a domestic terrorist. By the Grace of the U.S. Constitution, we have evolved as a Society and now respect and revere Ms. Tubman's sacrifice and dedication. It's perfectly appropriate we should honor her life's work in some way...and perhaps the $20 bill is the answer.

At the same time, we can't ignore the Political Mafia that has slowly enveloped government at all levels since the legalization of direct taxation. These criminals pit citizen against citizen so they can continue looting the U.S. Treasury undisturbed.

We can't let them divide us to further their criminal activities. Their technique is obvious...they conflate a good with a bad to make the "bad" appear "good" or vice versa to manipulate Public opinion.

It's a very effective technique...especially now that most media outlets are controlled by one party or the other. The only difference between Republicans and Democrats in this regard is the speed in which they want to dismantle the U.S. Constitution for personal gain.

The ONLY way to repair the damage done to the Constitution and American society is by repealing the 16th Amendment and replacing it with H.R.25 (S.18) "The Fair Tax Act of 2019". Not politics...just economic facts.

I don't agree that's the ONLY way to repair the damage. I believe the damage can be repaired with term limits. When these politicians understand that politics isn't a career, and they must return to life outside politics after their terms are served, then we can return to the life our Founding Fathers envisioned for this once great nation.

Lobbyists today flip-flop back and forth between government and the private sector...and everyone is connected. If you look at the cabinet appointments so far, the Biden Administration is pretty much a continuation of the Obama Administration.

If you tell them they have to get up and change seats every 10 years or so, I'm sure they're like..."Ok". We need to take away the candy bowl of identity politics. As long as we're fighting one another, we're not fighting them and that's just the way they like it.

The Treasury is being looted six ways from Sunday, and we're too divided to do anything about it. Direct taxation and the resultant identity politics has destroyed Public oversight of government.

Term limits would just replace one set of idiots with another.

At least veterans understand how things work. Term limits imposed and you get more Socialist bartenders who think they have all the answers. :D

Term limits really should be considered more for other areas of government. Here in CA, we've had the same two senators for 25 years (until 2017). In other states, senators hold their posts for half a century. That's abnormal. We can't let them get too comfy in there, regardless of what party they're from.
Yeah, I agree with your last point though.

So just leave the same idiots, who become entitled and elite, to run the asylum? No thank you. The number of 40+ year career politicians in DC is tantamount to having the king's court in session.

The veterans 'understanding how things work' is just another way to say they are familiar with the graft and corruption that envelopes the political elite so let them be. No thank you.

FYI, the above post represents both major political parties. It is a bipartisan representation of Washington DC.

Mike Thornton Learning something new everyday.

I'm in full agreement that term limits are desperately needed. The job is/was supposed to be "Public Service", with the emphasis on Service, and payed a stipend to cover costs and expenses.
Most of the politicians today have made the position a career and have become utterly wealthy in the process. They really don't have a clue what the "Average Joe" has to deal with, day to day to put food on the table. Piled upon that is that they have the ability to give themselves raises and all kinds of special perks. Now, I'm not opposed to someone making as much income as they are able to, but where's their focus? On "We the People" or their bank accounts?
I think a solution could be passing a law prohibiting them from book deals, speaking fees, etc. until they are out of office. Also, any and all pay raises MUST be voted on by the public. The impact on their bank accounts would drive them to limit the term for themselves.
However, there is a rub. The rub is twofold.
    1. They're the same ones that have to pass the law, to quote our current President, "oh come on man, give me a break". You really think they're going to limit their own ability to rake in the cash and all the special perks?
    2. The wheels of government turn so slowly, with the turnover rate at the positions, would government get anything done? I know, they hardly get anything done today but it can get worse, much worse. Regardless it will be painful for most Americans. MHO.
