    Hey,
Today i thought it would be fun to look through some coins, so I went and purchased a $100 box of nickels. My finds include:

    1939
    1940 x 2
    1941D
    1943S
    1943P
    1944P
    1946
    1947 x 2
    1947D
    1952
    1952D
    1953
    1953D
    1654
    1955D
    1957D
    1959D
    1968S
    1970S x 3

I was suprised to find S's in a box? Are the S's from proof sets or where they put into circulation?
Well that's all for this round! :D

The San Francisco mint used to strike coins for circulation. Any nickel with an S mint mark that is dated 1954 or before - was a business strike coin. There was also a '55 D over S.

Any nickel with an S mint mark struck after 1955 - is a Proof.

San Francisco nickels were also minted for circulation from 1968-1970.

AND San Francisco struck Lincoln cents for circulation 1968-1974, also Susan B dollars in 1979 and 1980.
