    Hello C.T Friends,
I would like to show you my new Vermont Landscape copper: Ryder-8, Vermontensium variety. As nice as you can get for the grade, and with a minimum (for a Vermont cent) of surface problems, save for a minor depressed area on the obverse. These coins are very often plagued with fissures, cracks and pits as minted in Rupert, Vermont in 1786. Perfect planchets with full legends and date are rare.

I have included the sellers pictures (Stacks), as well as my own. Stacks pictures bring out every last level of detail (and surface imperfections) with brutal clarity. I wish i could take pictures like that.

(God, health, finances (and wife!) permitting, i hope to visit Vermont this summer and hopefully the place where these were minted - that will be very interesting).

Let me you what you think,

    Thanks and regards,

    Eduard

That is a very nice example, Eduard. A lot of detail left on that coin, and few planchet problems. I like the doubled 1 in the ate (repunched?) A great coin with a lot of character, and another one for my must-have list! Congratulations and enjoy it! I hope your plans for a trip to Vt. come to fruition.

Thank you very much for your comments Ks! I really like this coin type, showing the Vermont landscape. This variety, Ryder-8 is, I think, the scarcest of the Vermontensium varieties. The doubled 1 is typical, but i am not sure whether it is was repunched or how it was created.
I really hope you too are able to find an example you like.
    Regards,
    Eduard

It is a good thing that you live in Germany, otherwise you would have a lot of company camping out in your living room to study your coins!

Nice, I always liked that design.
