I'm a novice and have heard this term quite a bit in the posts. What exactly is slabbing and why is it done.
howdy hulkster, there's something i never thought i would say!!! anyway, slabbing is when you send a coin off to a third party grading service (tpg) and they give the coin an official grade. companies include: proffesional coin grading service (pcgs) numismatic guaranty corporation (ngc) american numismatic association certification service (anacs) and others that have sprung up over the years. i know someone will probably come along and wonder why i left some out but these are the big 3. hope this helps, michael
