ok so I'm not sure if there are many people that collect U.S. medals, but I found something in my grandpa's basement that I just wanted a little more info about. I'm sure it's not worth anything, but I just found it interesting. Sorry no pics, but I'll do my best to describe it:

Just SLIGHTLY larger than a kennedy half dollar

Pictured on obverse, of course, is Abraham Lincoln, with Abraham on the left running along the border of the medal and Lincoln on the right.

on the reverse, it has a wreath wrapping the outside, with the words:

    Inaugurated
    President
    Of The
    United States
    March 4, 1861.
    Second Term
    March 4, 1865
    - . -
    Assassinated
    April 14, 1865.

It is also gold in color and features a beaded band just inside the rim on both the obverse and reverse.

Anyway, I'm guessing it was probably made sometime between 1985 and 1990 or so?

    Thanks!

From the description, I have the exact same one. I doubt it's worth much, but I collect memorbilia from each president and enjoy it. The presidential dollars just add to my collection, as well as my wife's spouse medals. I don't have tons of money currently, so this is my alternative to buying the Morgans I need.

Thanks for your reply! Yeah I didn't figure it was worth anything, but I was curious when it was made and all that.

To the best of my knowledge, they are produced at the Philadelphia mint as needed. You can buy all of them through the U.S. mint currently @ $3.50 each. I think the medal could have been made almost any year, so the age may not be known.

i see. i assumed it was around 1985-1990 because my grandfather died in 1990 and this was something that my grandma and i found recently in the basement.
