I found this 1944 at my local shop and was louping it out when I noticed a little something odd, so I purchased it and took it home for further study. Besided the high state of preservation and the fully split bands this caught my eye and sure enough right there in my cherrypicker's was the corresponding picture a 1944 d/d with a URS of 5 (16 to 31 known). Sweet and the second mm is almost as clear as the first!
I echo covert coins! Where can you find a cherrypickers guide? Everytime I think I'll just do some research and right down the rare stuff dates; I end up hearing of more and more scarcities.
nice find! Here is where you can get the book, or I am sure at your local coin shop. http://www.amazon.com/Cherrypickers...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238964063&sr=1-1
be sure to get both volumes, or at least one now and one later. vol 1 is through nickels, and vol 2 starts at half dimes.
Thanks for the info on the cherry picker guide. I'll be getting the set for myself. I appreciate how folks help each other on coin talk!
WOW that is a great find. I got just my cherrypicker's volume 1 and cant wait to get started. They are great books and they sure do help. I like the bands on your coin. Nickeldude
