    Hi all,

Just read a email from Stu and he said the site is done, major, major server issues that would take time and $$$ to fix.

Sadly the site is gone, so many of us will hang our hats here and other forums.
See ya coinpeople.com it was a fun ride while it lasted. :(

Art if your reading this email me OK.

Bad news. Those were good folks. Stu seemed like a great guy.

    Hopefully they'll post over here.

I wonder what will happen to the great World Coin Type Set project that was being organized.

Stujoe should be thanked for the incredible dedication he put into that site over the years it ran. It was very commendable.

I have to agree. It was a job-well-done.

Absolutely! Every time I'd have a look at CoinPeople my head would spin, wondering how Stu could accomplish all that he did, by himself!

Stujoe has an update on his site. Looks like he has some partial success in getting his data base "loaded," but he is also saying he wants to give advice about where folks should spend their internet coin time and where he can be found. Seems like mixed messages, but maybe he's saying he's going to make the data (old messages and PMs) available online, but isn't going to continue the site as anything but read-only. I guess.

I wonder if Stujoe will end up coming over here.Perhaps Peter should invite him to be a Moderator. What do you think? Do you also think that Peter should create a British Commonwealth section of the board?

    Aidan.

It may be too soon for that. I have asked Stu to be a moderator, over a year ago. Perhaps when the dust settles. Naturally, everyone from CoinPeople is welcome over here, and I do consider new sections as the demand arises, but I don't think that CoinTalk or any other site can replace CoinPeople. I will try my best to accomodate everyone who wants to spend time here at CoinTalk, but I think it would be a mistake for me to try to remake CoinPeople over here.

A very honest & straight forward response.
Coin People is Stu's baby, nobody else could duplicate it. I for one was amazed at all of the work & information on that site. The "virtual museums" on every US coin made my "head spin" The whole site was obviously a labor of love and I will miss it.
But this is Peter's site, his labor of love. I don't believe he started doing this to get rich. It should be run on his standards, after all we are just guests here.
What I've learned here is that money shouldn't be the cause of us losing the places to go to talk about money. I would gladly help protect this site & others with a portion of my coin funds.
I would like to Thank both Peter & Stujoe for sharing their passion with me.

I think Stu might be letting someone who's been involved with CP help him out with bringing back the site. I'm sure it will take some time.

What sort of equipment does it take to operate such a board as this, Peter?

It would be very good when Coinpeople gets back up & running.I am sure that there's bound to be a bit of friendly rivalry & exchange of information between the 2 websites.
