In an ANACS slab. I really like the luster and powerhouse obverse strike on this one. I haven't seen many with this kind of strike. opinions?
Delicious! That's a heck of a coin that I would be proud to own. Don't know how I can say anything better....Mike
I once was going to start a collection of $5 Gold's... It is my estimate of a 64...minimum of a 63 Great coin... RickieB
ANACS gave it an AU-58, which made it quite affordable. I wonder what it looked like when it was mint-state?
High end AUs are $400 + change, which is around what I paid. MS-63/64 are more around 2K-4K. I don't see the point of spending that much more for the difference. I don't really see much difference between this coin and MS $5 indians.
I am currently on a mission just as big or bigger...when I am finished, perhaps I just may start..who knows..for now I am off of coins until that day once again arrives when I can no longer resist! RickieB
I can see the fine lines in the reverse..but as far as wear and strike..that is a solid coin....I was hoping the best for you..perhaps your scans are hiding something I cant see..it does that to notes ya know? RickieB
Wow! I can't say I've ever seen the headband with that much detail either. Interesting. Thanks for posting.
Personally I believe that is a undergraded slab. I would give it a solid 62 and more likely probably a 63 if I had it in had to look at. Its a beauty!!
I'm going to invent a new designation. AU-58 FHB(full headband). You guys are correct, I've been looking at these indians, and haven't seen many with this kind of headband detail. I just hope it's not a form of expert re-engraving....
