I've always wondered if rainbow coins are worth more or less than an equally graded coin in normal color? In particular, this 1952 rainbow roosevelt in this set Roosevelt Proof Set

In this case, based on the pics, I would say no it is not worth more. But with a coin like this one - Click Here - I would say yes it is. Of course that's just based on my personal taste ;)

I will have to go with Old Dan's trout on this one. I have no love for toned coins be it natural or artificial. I wouldn't buy a new car with rust on it and I stick with the same philosophy with my coin purchases. In over 30 years of collecting I fail to see the attraction but know a great many of collectors do seek out such coins and are willing to pay a premium for them. Both views have its plus and minuses so in the end we are not all after the same type of coins which is good for all of us and the hobby in general. Every coin, regardless of grade or condition, is worth something to someone and there is something for every ones budget! Thats what makes this hobby so great! Everyone can be involved! Now Old Dan, when can you ship the fish?

Guess I am going to have to make a trip to Montana one of these days. I think I can work in a little fishing with my coin tales!

To those who like the rainbow effects, usually will pay a premium for nice uniform rainbows effects that start on the whole outside rim, and move inward or completely cover the coin

of those people, they usually dont like the coins that have toned from one side, resulting in a side with toning, a side without toning, and a fine like between the two

and i just found a site thats full of collectors of toned coins

it's all about eye appeal when it comes to toning
