  1. Grade Revealed* Guess the grade of my freshly PCGS graded Rainbow Morgan

Just got the grade in on this beauty today!

Care to guess, it is PCGS holdered.

Oh, that gunk on the "N" in UNITED on the reverse was removed with acetone before grading, so ignore it

Photos are a little fuzzy but I will guess MS66. A little market grading doesn't hurt.

    I'll guess MS-65.

I would say 65 at best - a couple of distracting marks on the cheek. Also it almost looks like a finger print in the hair and neck. Nice coin!

I'm trying to imagine what that obverse condition would look like without the toning. I'll say with the toning and all they're appraising this at around $400 retail, so I guess that means they slapped a 66 grade on it.

Considering that I have no grading experience whatsover, I am going to go with the high end and say MS-67.

Very beautiful!! The cheekbone is barely showing sign of trace. That combined with the eagles chest detail is very impressive. My guess would be a MS66.

    Cheers!

It is a lovely coin. I personally think that MS66 is too high because it's an 1881-S and it does have a couple marks, but with the nice toning I can see them giving it an extra point. Nevertheless, it's a coin anyone would be proud to own. :thumb:
