A long time ago I purchesed thru "coin dealer" about 20 sets of coins P & D 's sealed in 3.5 x 5.5 clear plastic cases with black felt and Gold lettering. All the sets are in fold over flaps with lois and clark ,sacagawea on the front titled "Westward Journey Commemoritives" 9 sets 2000 to 2006 are 1.00 gold colored sac's ,2 sets of which are the satin finish, and the remaining are nickel sets P & D , series 1 & 2 I can find all theses coins as individuals but not 2 coin sets and I'm pretty sure these are not U.S. mint sets but they are impressisive in their cases. where do I find prices for these or do I price them as individual coins.
Hi, You're right the sets are not official U.S Mint products so you won't find the sets listed in any price guide. You would have to price them based on the conditions (grade) of each individual coin. I hope that helps. Good luck!!
westward journey sets That is what I thought... my early days of coin collecting ....basicly paid someone to have a fancy box for everyday coins ....except send them to me from the home shopping club for a premium price. thanks for the info. P.S. look out for the company called "the us mint" the coins they send are from bagged coins lots of dings ,but uncurculated -not mint sets ... my second learned lesson of what not to buy.
Well, I did find this. Might want to keep an eye on it and see what it fetches.... http://cgi.ebay.com/2002-Sacagawea-...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50
My understanding is the satin finish dollars would have had to come from a mint set so they are probably in fairly nice shape unless the company who packaged them caused damage. But, I don't think those mint set coins are overly valuable either though.
