Hello, I got this from my wifes grandfather. I am just wondering how much it's worth. Thank everyone for your help. Erich
Neat note. It is worth probably around $150-175 in that condition. Some people will also pay a small premium for the neat serial number (only 3 different numbers in it). Nice note Erich!
In VF it list's at $175 in the S/L 8th edition...there were only 783,000 or so notes printed. The note in the OP post has margin breaks in it and some hard folds (paper breaks) that will reduce the grade to perhaps a Good. The second note appears to be a VF maybe a little more. Nice Notes guy's...I am sure Urban will froth at the Mouth on those when he discovers this tread which should be in the Paper Money Fourm...LOL RickieB
That note actually has pencil marks on the front and back, a half stamp on the back and you can see it was folded. But it's not worn as much as the OP's. Btw, krauz2, sorry for hijacking your thread but atleast it's staying on topic! Here's a better scan of that one: And here's one to drool over:
The US no longer values its currency based on the amount of gold and silver in their vaults. If I went to a bank with a silver certificate or one of these bills that claim that I can get gold, the bank will either give me a regular dollar or 100x presidential dollars. What year did the US stop using gold/silver standard? Cheers!
