Pics wont work so I'll link it. Anywho, it is my first ancient gold piece. A nice Solidus.: http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee43/ASG-1/Commodus_AR_denarius2C_180_AD2C_Rom.jpg thoughts? stainless
Lol, al ancient coinage are cleaned, it is an accepted method for them. And it is not a counterfeit, I have it certified by David R. Sear. Plus I see no signs of it being counterfeit. stainless
stainless you are the centerpiece of the collection. i bet its a april fools joke unless you have stopped asking for advice again but that is unlikely
For your information, that's a unique piece. I saw it in the Smithsonian Collection. Yours is nothing but a cheap knockoff.
I agree it's not a counterfeit. BUT I suspect it may be a fake or reproduction. Might even be a copy. Just not a counterfeit.
IMHO I see no reason for it to be authentic. Dang guys, give the poor coin the respect it deserves. All I am hearing is "cast counterfeit, chinese counterfeit, cast counterfeit" jeez, what is this? Did Isaiah hack all of your computers? Btw, nice pick up stainless.
THe coin is definately genuine but unfortunately I believe it has been retooled, greatly deminishing the value. Richard
I have so wanted a gold ancient coin. I know you said it's a Solidus but from what era? Nice pickup! :thumb: Ribbit
