from - http://www.coinworld.com/ Mintages of the Puerto Rico quarter dollar are the lowest for the Washington quarter series since the early 1960s. Production of the coin ended before it was released into circulation.
OK, I'm not a 'paying member' so I can't read the whole article. Why is the mintage lower? Is it because of the 'glut' of coins that banks are receiving? And, does it specify if one mint mark is going to be harder to find? Thanks.
Here is a link to a non-paying site and the numbers: http://www.statequarterguide.com/2009-puerto-rico-quarter/ I think I will pick up some mint rolls and worst case is I have some overpriced laundry money .
Hmm, "only" 139 million coins. Not enough for one each per citizen... worse if you collect both P (53 million) and D (86 million). Not exactly the 1932, but that won't stop the speculation...
other four quarters will be lower than puerto rico. the spouses gold might be around 2,000 or less. the jefferson nickel and roosevelt dime will be low too. that include the prez dollar, sac dollar, kennedy half and lincoln coins. even the gold coin too. it is the whole world wide shortages of coinage. and of course affected by the financial crises too. i even don't have enough money to buy all of them.
