2 ways: They will be in all the proof sets issued by the mint this year, both clad and silver both currently listed by the mint as just "Summer". They will be in special sets containing one Lincoln proof silver dollar and 4 proof Lincoln cents to be available "Summer". That's all the information anyone has at this point.
According to information on the subscription section of the Mint web site they will also be in the Mint Sets.
oops, my bad. I'm not a very good reader today. I didn't catch the copper part. I thought the op was talking about normal cents.
I hope so. I'm one of those guys that collects mint sets. Of course, I'll probably splurge get the proof sets too!
I may be wrong, but last fall, my understanding was the copper cents would be by special order only and would NOT be included in the proof and mint sets? Regular copper coated zinc cents would be the norm again this year with regular mint sets containing business strikes as usual. If anyone gets some updated info it would be appreciated as I know, from past experiences, the U.S. Mint is NOT going to throw these special copper cents into proof and mint sets without a hike in prices.
They just keep finding new ways to suck a little more out of us each year. They better at least put them in the silver proof set. It would be kind of nice , but I wouldn't expect the 95%ers to be in the mint sets. Maybe they will just make a satin finish for those, creating one more variety to aquire!
I haven't seen anything about the prices of this year's proof sets, but I'm sure they'll be higher just because they contain more coins. I believe they will be the largest proof sets ever, with 5 quarters, 5 dollars and 4 cents. Add in the half dollar, quarter, dime and nickel and you've got 18 coins in the set! From the US Mint Pressroom, "the Secretary of the Treasury shall mint and issue numismatic one-cent coins in 2009 with the exact metallic content as contained in the 1909 one-cent coin (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc). These numismatic versions will be included in the United States Mint’s annual product offerings. " So it appears they will be in all the annual sets, including mint sets.
It would be nice to see them in the proof and mint sets but I still don't believe it. They will most definitely be a "product offering" but it will probably be $7 to $10 for each. One thing is for certain if they are included in the proof sets and that is the fact there will be thousands busted open to sell those Lincolns! Guess they do need a gimmick to keep proof set sales up as future prices on proof sets is usually NOT a good thing after a few years pass. Single coins tend to fair much better in the long run. Or, do as I do, go for the silver sets!!!

Wow, I didn't know they were making them 95% copper for the sets. I remember a lot of people where hoping they would...but I didn't know it was official. Very cool.
My guess is it's just a typo, but it doesn't really matter since the composition was the same in 1907 and 1909.
I'm in! I'll buy all three as soon as they become available. You'll be able to get the copper cents as cheap as the zincs the way it looks!
