    Obverse:
Augustus II, DG (By the Grace of God) DG Rex (King)
Poland and I can't read the rest. [I forget my latin].

The reverse is too small to read.

That medal honors August II (Augustus the Strong); the text around his portrait is AUGUSTUS II D G REX POLON M DUX LIT which means "Augustus II by the Grace of God King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania". Note the eagle and the knight on the horse (vytis) at the top - those can still be found in today's CoA of Poland (eagle) and Lithuania (vytis). The dates on the left (1697-1706) and the right (1709-1733) are the times when he was king of Poland.

On the other side I can read RESTAURATOR ORDINIS AQUILAE POLONICAE which I think refers to the Order of the White Eagle that Augustus initiated. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_White_Eagle The long text around the edge is not in Polish but Latin; cannot read it all but it is basically a list of all the great things that Augustus did. :)

Would be interesting to know what the tiny text at the bottom of the "portrait side" says ...
