I am losing my mind. I swear i posted these notes last night... i really did.. i hope i didnt post them on some yarn twirling site Ok, back to the issue at hand... I have these two notes i bought in a small auction. They are Yugoslavia P-27, but they have overprints for use in other countries. I do believe 1 is Serbia P-23, but the Krause book doesnt show an image. Ron Wise's site shows an image for Serbia P-23, and it matches one of my notes, so i think i got that 1 solved. The other note i cant find anyplace.. Italy, Japan, Croatia ... i checked several countires last night (unless i dreamt that too) and couldnt find it... Hopefullysomeone here will be able to tell Note 1 obverse Note 1 reverse Note 2 obverse Note 2 reverse If this is a double post, i am sorry - i couldnt find my other oen anyplace lol
Hello Daggarjon I tried to click and look at the pictures you had linked but a google window came up saying the link was broken PD13
thanks they werent really links as much as just file names hidden as links. I forgot to add the link part they shoudl be fixed now
Nice notes, Daggarjon! The first note is Yugoslavia Pick R13. The overprint is a handstamp on P27. This banknote was used for the Italian Occupation of Montenegro. There are notes that were stamped with these same handstamps on P22 in error as well. P22 is essentially an earlier dated issue of the same design as P27. The stamps were placed on these noted in 1941. The second note is Yugoslavia Pick with the stamp for use in Serbia as you mentioned in your original post.
Awsome, thanks Resu Eman, i see it now. I was looking in the wrong spot for that R-13. I will update and post them to the site, possibly tonight
I hate to dig up an older post, but i have another question on the second note posted above... The Serbian P-23. The question i have is on the number in the lower left corner. The serial number is in the center, but then there are numbers in all 4 corners.... I just got a second note in thats shows a letter with the number int he lower left. The note posted above has a symbol. I was wondering if the symbol was an attempt at somethibng like a star note? or if it was a common symbol ... or is it a letter in the serbian language??
Daggarjon: You will want to look at the overprints very closely as spurious overprints have hit the market in the last few years. The Verifacato overprint used to be a tough note to find. Ebay is now littered with them. When they first hit the market, Joe Boling did an analysis of some of the notes and wrote about them in the MPCGram. He determined that the fakes were done using an inkjet printer. Under magnification you could see the colored pixels that made up the printing by the inkjet. The notes were genuine but the overprints were not. I received one about two years ago in a lot of other stuff off Ebay. The overprint was fake. You may want to check your overprints with a 20x magnifier.
Very cool daggarjon......what is that water mark in the white area on the back? The colors are great!! RickieB
Thanks for the tip. Looks like i got lucky. I checked all 3 of my over print notes, and they all look like they should. I got a 30x loupe, and i saw no dots, pixels or other marks that would make me think it was done on an inkjet. The only 'break' in the ink looks to be from the ink not completely covering the stamp. If yourd like, i could scan the stamp at like 600 or 1200 DPI .. let you take a look at the area and get your opinion....
