Received coins taped to paper

Feedback is your way of expressing how you felt about the experience. So I don't feel you need anyone to tell you if you felt right ;-)
I would probably leave a Negitive only if they refused to take them back and give a full refund and if Paypal didn't resolve my claim properly. I would probably do as you did and leave no feedback or Neutral to alow other coin collectors like my self know that the coins may come taped. Actually I have even left Positive Feedback before with a comment like coins were taped, or what ever the issue was, just so they have positive feedback and the message is told to the next buyer.

Doesn't anyone know that all good ebay sellers ship their coin sales like this?(kidding) I received a silver coin a while back with tape completely enclosing it. I guess he wanted to suffocate it or keep the dirty post office air from getting to it. It was a challenge getting this coin out without damaging it, let alone removing the tape residue safely.

 

Join the club. I hate taped coins. Makes me lose my trust in mankind's ability to survive in the long run.

 

Informing the seller is the most important in this case so that it does not happen again. I had a seller one time place the coins loose in the envelope and the coins in the floor when I opened it. That was a bummer.

 

That is why ebay has the feedback forum. Now, if they could just get some customer service...

 

Yes, you'd think it would be common sense. Many sellers claim they are not an expert on coins, and prove it time and time again.

Sad thing is I expect an Antique dealer to know better.

 

Think it would serve a purpose to buy something from people like that and tape the money or check to a piece of cardboard with packing tape?
Tape on a coin as already noted if left there to long really does the coin no good. And too, that depends on the tape. Some tapes contain dangerous substances that could effect the coins.

 

Thanks Carl, Ive been collecting for a while- really ever since I was a kid as my Grandmother bought me a proof set every year for my birthday so I have em all since 1976!!!! And when she passed I got all of her old coins... some octagon shaped gold coins from 1848-1853 and an old French coin from 1789 but in rough shape which are my gems from her collection of the many old coins I received. Ebay I think overall is a decent place to do business on, I buy quite a few coins. I have been communicating back and forth with the seller very friendly in manner and we have the situation all straightened out. He just didnt know about taping coins, I just assumed he did since he had sold quite a few judging from his feedback. The 1909 Indian head was the one I was worried about the most as it has the full liberty visible.

Sorry if I offended people for leaving the guy neutral feedback, I felt like the infraction wasnt serious enough to leave negative but I just wanted to hear about everyone else's experiences/opinions on this was all.
