Ok other than ebay, where can I get an acceptable 1914 $5? I really don't care for heritage either. I've bid on a BUNCH but I can't seem to win one. Some "idiot" always comes along and bumps it up to where to me it's just not worth it!

I've been trying to listen to all your advice and such and I'm just not able to get a good deal anywhere. Starting to tick me off!

Sorry just a little frustrated if you can't tell :)

Heritage is the best choice -- you just need patients. And watch the coin just before it closes with your highest big on the trigger.

My best advice is to be patient. Don't overpay -- just keep bidding what you want to pay, and one of two things will eventually happen:

    1) You'll get what you want (most likely)
    2) You'll realize the market is past what you thought it was, and you'll raise your bid.

I have been known to wait years and years for something that is just right. Impulse buys only cost you in the end.

Last year I bought an Edward III (1327-1377) gold noble, I had been looking for a full flan unclipped and little or no wear example for about 15 years. Similarly early last year I picked up my avatar coin, a gold half lion from Scotland from Queen Mary's reign - another longish wait to get the right coin.

Don't get upset, I know easier said than done. You'll wind up bidding WAY more than you want or settle for something you don't want. Have you tried to snipe it yourself? You'll get it just hang in there!

Um...I don't know. Did you end up purchasing a note for way more than it should have gone for?

i can understand your frustration, but notes on heritage go for the value of the note at the time of the auction. If your not willing to go as high as the note is bringing at auction, im sorry to say you might not end up with an example in the grade range your looking for. Try looking for a slightly lower grade range, a slight drop in grade can bring much lower prices at auction.

If you stick to yoru guns and want the grade range you want.. then patience is a must! Deals can be made, but not every day (unless your urban lol)

Believe it or not dealers still sell some of this stuff. There is more to life than online auctions.

Better to snipe yourself....wouldn't trust turning my eBay id AND password over to any 3rd party site.

Have you tried the deales list in the coin mags? I get one over here in the UK and it lists dealers for coins and notes. That might be worth trying.

ive used esnipe for years. i only use them for about 10% of my auctions or maybe even less. never had a problem with it.

clembo is right of course lol there are lot of dealers who sell the stuff we look for... you might try som eof your local dealers.. or becuase clembo can say it, i will.. pm clembo to see if his shop has what your after... you never know!

There is no better sniper than myself. Machines go for three seconds, I go for 1-0 seconds.
