so far the first lincoln design production is 536,800,000 pieces. and looking at it. my estimation for this year will be 2,500,000,000 pieces to 3,000,000,000 pieces.

here are some other years production:
    2004 - 6,836,000,000
    2005 - 7,700,050,000
    2006 - 8,234,000,000
    2007 - 7,401,200,000
    2008 - 5,419,200,000

    all these were 97.5% zinc.

cent roll is doing very well at e-bay. some even traded 10x or more over face value.

I have a question..How do you know that 536,800,000 figure is all for the first design (log cabin) Lincoln cents? I know those figures are for Jan-Feb 2009. Could some of the second Lincoln designs be included in this figure? Also even if that figure is just for the first design Lincoln how do you know they will make the same amount for the Type 2-4 Lincolns if they Fed doesn't even need them?

I would just like to know what it takes to finally get a few of these new Lincoln cents without paying an arm and leg just to fulfill my families collecting desires. The Mint is now sold out at the rip-off price of $8.95 plus $4.95 shipping and handling and Ebay is for people with more money than brains as I am at a loss wondering what they are thinking when bidding at ridiculous levels. Pretty sad state of affairs when a collector can't pick up or afford a new Lincoln cent?

I know it is frustrating not to be able to get the new cent. My theory is that when the next type sis released the fed will be forced into releasing all of the type ones in there vaults to make room.

The mint mailed my 10 rolls (5/D + 5/P) of "Birthplace" Lincoln Cents last week, and it's not going to be here until April 21st. Talk about Pony Express...Geeeeesh!

Right now they are sitting in Dallas, and evidently it is going to take 6 more days to go the last 180 miles North. Even a letter goes from Dallas to OKC in one day!

I don't have much good to say about Fed-Ex.

Not that I'm suppose to die in the next week or anything, it's just the principle of it.

Green, you must know what I'm talking about since you put in 30 with UPS. Back then it was almost a sin to bring a package back to the Hub at night, and EVERY package went out for delivery every day.
Ground service from Dallas to OKC was overnight standard service!

I vote ELAINE to take over imediately as Mint Director!

I do think it could be managed MUCH better than it is today. Nothing against Moy personally, but He needs to be cracking the whip and get things going. Plus the fact that they have lost out on a lot of money in SO many different ways. They could have made no telling how much money if they had been the ones to sell the USPS Feb 12, 2009 stamped Rolls on from the mint originally. They missed out BIG time, and there are many more similiar things just like that where they have missed the boat.

Looks like most of the Lincoln cents are mint rolls cents.

I can't judge whether there are less and less . . . but it seems to me that the prices are going down.

You can pick up, e.g., 4 cents (2 D and 2 P) for 0.51, which includes postage. With prices like that, who'd want to bother selling them? Rolls are going for $6 or less now, and boxes are going for a bit over $200 -- it was over $300 10 days ago.
