Hi, I have been trying to determine the grade of this coin, all I have is a picture of one side of the coin. What grade would you give this coin?

Grading REQUIRES both sides of a coin. However, that coin looks to be in the good range, but could go anywhere between ag to vg.

    Thanks

Hi Thanks rlm's cents. That's what I thought too. I have asked a picture for the other side of the coin too. The seller is expecting 200$ for the coin.

Looks VG, but we're going to need the other side of the coin ;) NEVER buy a coin that doesn't show both sides, as for there could be problems with it etc...

Indeed....but based on obverse wear it looks no better than G to me. If there's no problems, you should give around $150-175 for it IMO. I've seen less worn examples sell for $200, this one has almost no head detail left. I like to at least see the ear canal on a G coin.

If I were you I would also ask for a close up picture of the mintmark, you can never be too cautious...

Just a guess from the obverse, but I'll go AG-3. You could probably get G-4 if you send it to ANACS or NGC. They tend to be a little forgiving with key dates, in my experience.

By the way, that coin has awfully strong obverse rims for the grade (with the exception of around 8 o'clock.) That's an unusual wear pattern. Sure, it could be a weak strike, but...

Indeed....if you're trying to buy using photos you should PASS! If you're gonig to spend money on a key date, buy a graded coin or from a reputable dealer so you see the coin yourself. NEVER buy a raw key from ebay or elsewhere unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing.
