I thought I would share the joy with u guys!!!!! I ordered 3. 1 to keep and 2 to sell hopefully for a good price. I wish the nickels would be silver so that they would raise in value easier. I also got 3 UNC sets and 2 more reg proof sets. Man i hope they will go up and up and up!!!!

Are Silver Proof Sets good to buy? It doesn't seem that some earlier years have gone up in value?
    Thanks,

Almost every year except the 2000 year silver set has gone up in value. The first year is selling for $350.

I ordered mine today also. I started at exactly 9:00AM (12EST) and it took exactly 27 minutes to finish the order and get my number. Not too bad for the Mint.

As for earlier sets, just check out the 1995 and 1997 (to name a couple). They sell for over $100 and the 1999 is over $300 at some places.

This was a minor ordeal. I logged in at 12 noon and proceeded to try and order one Silver Proof set and one Proof set. I also wanted to get one of the cardboard proof set containers, but the "add to cart" button wasn't responding by the time I got to the container. I was afraid of blowing the whole deal, so I selected "proceed to checkout". I verified the order, and hit "continue checkout" to get to the payment input. Now this button didn't work: the completion bar would get to about 30% and then quit. I think I must have hit "continue checkout" about 30 times before it went to the payment screen.

I filled out the payment info, and hit the "place order" button. Nothing happened. I hit it several more times before it occurred to me that I might be placing an order with each click :(. I never got to the last screen, which would have told me my order number.

At 12:35 pm I gave up, thinking I would try again about 2am or sometime when it was more convenient for the Mint. When I got home, there was an email from the Mint saying that they had received my order ... for ONE of each set. :)

I'm afraid to look at tomorrow's email. :)

I have purchased the silver proof sets in recent years because I prefer the look to clad. Predicting pricing, and buying mint products in anticipation of a price increase is a crapshoot. Since 1999, a couple of the silver proof sets have done very well. But many think that the 2004 clad set may sell for more than the silver- there were less clad sets minted than in other recent years, and they sold out early, while the silver sets only recently sold out.

Tried to order mine last night on-line. After filling in required areas, I received a message stating on-line wouldn't work. This has happened many times before. I have the cable, and a good computer system, and the fault was at the mint's end.

So, this morning I ordered two sets by telephone. Took under five minutes. Unless the mint up-dates their computer systems I will probably order by telephone in the future.

Am anxious to see the coins.

    I don't think I'll be buying any this year...maybe 1 or 2 but I'm not sure...

I'm not collecting "new" coins anymore...so they aren't on my list right now!!

I've just won an 1954 PF66 NGC Franklin to help complete my set...only 6 out of 14 missing now!!!...so if I don't buy the proof sets I could get another PF franklin I need for about the same price...
