Ok so as an extreme newbie I purchased this coin on ebay for 15.75 plus 2.00 shipping. I thought by looking at it that it was probably cleaned but thought what the heck, I don't have any peace dollars. If it is just junk, it was a fairly cheap lesson to learn, and the seller had all positive feedback. SO how bad did I get taken? And does anyone have any advice for purchasing coins on ebay or should I just stay clear of that altogether.I did get a 1962 dime for 0.87 with free shipping, and thought that was good deal too. Any help would be appreciated.

Still don't have the hang of this forum thing, so if I got the URL screwed up the pics are in my only album. THANKS!

Very common date Peace dollar, sorry to say, but IMO you over-paid. I can get these much cheaper at my local dealer. Until you learn the ropes of collecting, I suggest you stay clear of ebay. Go to a local dealer, ask, learn and talk coins. A good dealer is not going to rip you off and they will only help you get better.

The dime was a good deal, it has almost $1 melt
You overpaid on the peace dollar, around $10 melt, and it is in EF condition.
So bad deal on the peace dollar, good deal on the dime
