I found this in a roll today. It looks like the same one in the Cherrypicker guide, I think.

Could well be. Here are markers to check out that would confirm it. I can't really see the upper curl above the ear well. Doubling there or matching the markers would confirm it.

Looks like damage to me. Note on the site the image of the earlobe. There is no lower area on it as in the first image. Also the evidence of the spread is missing. So I say no. Sorry.

 

It has been hit by something as Coop stated.

 

I would say it's damage you could tell it was a hit.

I recently posted pictures of three 1997 cents with doubled ears. One thing to mention is that our skills at looking at coins needs to be improved as we go along as these, which are identical in look to the ones in the CPG look nothing like the one shown at the beginning of the thread.

This is what you want to find.
