I have just found amongst some coins I bought a coin/medallion a bit smaller than a five cent coin.It has an indian head with headdress with the word liberty above the head and 1913 under the head and germany on the right of the head.
the reverse has an eagle on what looks like twigs or olive branch, the wording united states of america above the eagles head, five dollars under its feet,in god we trust on the right, and e pluribus unum on left side.
It is made of steel.Anybody know anything of this.

    coin/medalion

    Hi Coindragon,
Have attached apic of the coin/medalion,sorry for the delay, had to get camera out of mothballs.
This object was in my dads collection of coins which have just come to me.
There are numerous coins from all over the world, earliest I think is the chinese one with square hole in middle, but there are also others which may be older,Alot of the coins are from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Hope this helps any info gratefully received.

Hi Jonesy and welcome to the forum.

The integral stub with a hole for a light weight chain is the giveaway - this is some kind of souvenir piece loosely based on a U.S. Indian Head cent (those are the ones that immediately preceded the Lincoln wheaties.) The "Germany" part is certainly curious.

Not necessarily. First cast a millenium ago, that style of coin was produced in China, Japan, Korea and Annam (now the Vietnam area of Indo China) right up into the early 20th Century. The Asian Cash coin is indisputably the basic design with the most varieties in the numismatic history of the world. :D

    Hello jonesboy,
While I can not tell you much about your 1913 item, I had just purchased one May 27th on ebay for 2.99 + s/h. Mine is dated 1923, but looks very similar to the one you have. The seller referred to it as a counter. I collect counters, but mostly from the U.S. This one just caught my interest. The auction number was 3976279519, and the pics are still up if you want to take a look at mine.

    coin/medallion/token

    Hi Cwtokenman,
Many thanks for information,I have looked at ebay site and agree they look the same, but wording on back of mine above eagle is United States of America.
That appears to be the only difference.
If yours is dated 1923 and mine 1913 this would suggest that there were at least two printing plates or more if other years were made. The question then is were they made for ten years or more.If so there must be others out there.
Hope some one can provide further information.

    Best wishes
