another reason why they should quit grading world coins. or maybe they just become blind when india comes to mind. shameful http://cgi.ebay.com/1918-India-Gold...286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:10|39:1|240:1318
OK Spock (ie: Geraldine), fill me in. I'm not understanding what is bothering you about that coin. Ruben
I think the coin is fine, but the label seems to be incorrect. I never understood why that bothers everyone so much since it is easily rectified.
off topic, but i will be grateful if someone can plz let me know the dimension of this exact coin (especially the radius). Thx
It's got the color of a bu coin & I can see his ear fine but not the hair but it's hard to tell from the picture. Could it be a weak strike? I have no clue on foreign.
PCGS calls them "mechanical errors". I had a mis-labeled Roosevelt dime. They reholdered it for free. And since I gave it to them at a show, I had no S&H to pay either.
exactly god knows if the grade is right i am waiting for the day they call it a mohur and then say its a mechanical error
Year: 19,181 Location of Coin: India 1 SOV: Got that right MS63: IDK, looks better I like the way these coins look...How much do they go for?
I don't see what the problem is. It is a sovereign, the grade looks OK, the date is right 1918, and it IS an I mintmark for Bombay India (The seller is wrong about that, it is not a British piece.) So what's the problem?
I know nothing about this darkside gold. Although I have a few pieces laying around here somewhere. Can somebody enlighten us about just what is wrong with this picture?
I believe putting the country name (India) on the label is standard procedure for NGC. The I is the mintmark for the Bombay mint. True 1918 I sovereign would still indicate that it was from India (if you know what mintmark belongs to what country) making the INDIA superfluous. But including it wouldn't be considered an error.
One more comment, Great Britain did not strike Sovereigns in 1918. 1918 Sovereigns were struck in India with an I mintmark and Australia with M, P, and S mintmarks
my guess would be under $300.00 - just how much depends on the number of bids. there's $215 or so worth of gold, so figure out how much more the 63 is worth? -steve
