1894-O Barber Quarter. Toned, I think.

    HI All, Prett new to this gig. Got my first pick tonight, Long Story, How would this grade and a Value? I am guessing VF 35 but this si just a guess Toning is Awesome, Doesn;t show in the scan very well. Thanks all, Let it fly.

    Nice. I agree with your grade and maybe a bit higher.

    I also agree it's a VF20 (Very Fine). In that grade it retails for about $70. So if you were to sell it you may get $50 - $60 for it.

    Well... I'd say VF30-EF40, somewhere in that range
    It is toned, and is very nice!

    RedBook 09' says $70 in VF20 and $130 in EF40, and the premium for your toning, so if you sold it today, I'd say around $78-$90.

    Are the mint marks often off center for this coin?

    Yes that is how they were made.

    LOL yep the barber quarters were a mess when it came to mintmarks.

    well that is about as off centered as any I'd seen. That must make for some interesting variety hunting.

    You have a variety barber, if it is a straight mintmark

    Dealers won't pay extra for toning. Funny thing is there are people that send back coins because of toning.

    *sigh* but I like that purple & blue....

    Oh and my quote of $50 - $60 is what a dealer may pay.

    my Barber quarters don't have mint marks so I couldn't check. But I'm surprised Frank didn't jump in here and have a say.
