Got an e-mail from the US Mint on 3-13-09 saying my Lincoln dollar was shipped that day. The coin has not arrived. Do you think it got "lost"?
I wouldn't be worried quite yet, but if on say oh about wednesday if hasn't been delivered I'd start to look into its whereabouts
^^^I agree. I have been in your shoes before--it always seems to take a couple of weeks after you receive the notification from the Mint.
As noted. Remember that is a large place and the people sending out that info may have no idea of what is going on in this world. Wait a little longer.
Would.......................................... .........ask your neighbors to double check THEIR mail for YOURS!
Thanks Thanks for your replies. I just called the mint. They say the coin will be delivered today. But they can't say if it will come to the post office box or the street address. I ordered the Jamestown coin and the San Francisco Mint coin in years past. I do not remember having any problems with either one being delivered. This time with the Lincoln Dollar it seems such a hassle. Going to think twice before I ever order from the US Mint again. And I do hope the coin shows up today.
I think delays in shipping are in part due to shortages in silver. But their new shipping policy is really rather strange. My order came in two separate packages, two separate days, from two separate companies. Talk about strange! I can't immagine that would save them any time or money.
Thanks everyone My girlfriend picked up the 2009 Unc. Lincoln dollar this afternoon from the post office box. I have not seen it yet but hope it is acceptable. I'd hate to have to return it after all this drama. In fact even if it is below standard I'll probably keep it anyway to avoid another US Mint suspense.
The problem with feedback for any business is you hear mainly the negative experiences. Just because a few people recently couldn't get their orders fast enough, doesn't mean it isn't worth ordering from them. I've had several orders from them with no complaints. The most recent order took slightly longer than expected, but everything else was fine. Most likely the delays on the Lincoln silver dollar were from causes beyond their control. Don't let the negative publicity turn you away from a mint order. My only complaint would be the lack of current information on their website. Hopefully that won't be a continuing problem.
^^^I agree. I have ordered probably 25-30 items from the Mint and have never had a problem. A few times (3-4) it took a little longer to get the item to me than I expected, but I did receive them in good shape. And, my expectations may have been a little off, too!! Overall, I have nothing but good experiences with the Mint.
