should the quarter program ended with the 50 states...or should the territorial be minted?

Your thoughts.. I think it should have ended with the 50 states.
    What say you?

It's a moot point. The Territorial Quarter Program is law. The DC Quarter HAS been minted as is/has the PR Quarter.

I don't consider them states though... I don't think we should commemorate Puerto Rico, or any others

I loved the state hood quarter program, and that is what got a lot of people into collecting coins.

That's why one program is called "50 States Quarter Program" and the other is called "Territories Quarter Program". (Or course, DC is not a territory - it is a 'District' - but they threw it in with the territories because DC demanded to be included in the program.)

I don't even think we should honor them...It should have stayed with states, and then back to the old quarter design

It's enough already with all these circulating commemorative coins. We have had them recently in all denominations besides dimes and half dollars. Those are my favorite modern denominations at this point in time because they don't have a different design every other day.

    I like plain and simple

    Penny---Should Still Be Memorial
    Nickel---Hate the nickel now
Dime---It'll have a new design sooner or later
Quarter---STATE HOOD QUARTERS ROCKED, and brought many collectors to our hobby, but, enough, is ENOUGH
Half Dollar---LETS BRING BACK THE WALKER!!!
Dollar Coins--- HATE THE NEW SAC REVERSES!!! Love the new presidential obverses!!! (In god we trust)

All commemorative coin programs from now on, should not be in circulation!

With the addition of one page our Dansco State Quarter album became a State and US Territories Quarter album. A simple, cheap, neat solution and as Hobo points out moot.

Yes, the 50 State Quarter Program should have ended with the 50 states. No Territorial Quarter Program should have even started.

I voted "no" but it is a close call of which way to vote. I do like the state quarters and what they are doing this year. What is coming next I enjoy the fact it does create coin interest in people. For many it affords the opportunity to collect coins that they otherwise may not be able to afford, and this is the part I like the most. At the same time if one doesn't like them or doesn't want to collect them then don't. I have seen people state they don't like to see the mint change things or do anything different other than one Commemerative a year is because what ever the mint does new it is llike they have to do it also. I'm not sure why they feel that way. Personally the only way I will go beyond this year is if the obverse would have T. Roosevelt, which is not going to happen.

Yes the "state quarter program" should have ended with the last state.
The mint has, (just like stamps in the 1930's) have saturated the collectors with more and more coins that just drives the interest and value of most all modern commemoratives down the drain. By their success they "beat a dead horse to death".
What's next, state capital quarters, counties within each state quarters, historic sites quarters?????
Yes the fifty state quarters are a success but it's time to move on now.
Be just like a lady and "know when to to leave"!

The State Quarter Program ended last year when the minting of the Hawaii coins ceased. The US Territories Program is entirely separate.

Others have said "If you don't like them don't collect them." I agree.

We, as collectors, come to this with a bias for or against what the Mint issues based on our interests, likes and dislikes. The non-collecting public does not care what design is on a coin as long as it works in the pop machine, toll booth or whatever.

We, as collectors, need to remember and understand: "The primary mission of the United States Mint is to produce an adequate volume of circulating coinage for the nation to conduct its trade and commerce."

    Everything else is secondary.

I'd second that and even third that motion.
The Mint is approaching the same thing that happened to Beanie Babies, US Stamps, Basebaball/football cards. OVERKILL.
