Well Spider I'll be happy to give you my opinion on the grades. But before I do - I'd like to ask you what you think the grades are - and why.
mostly VF or a little less due to dirt spots everywhere. A lot have little worns patches and have lost most or all luster in every area. Like I said, I can grade VF give or take a couple points but I wish for a specific number inwhich I am not experienced enough to give 1.XF due to luster 2.VF or XF (scratch on obverse, good luster on back) 3.same as number 2 but take away at least 1 point 4.VF orange ring around top of reverse Now you please, if you wouldnt mind
Understand first of all the pics aren't the best - not ciriticizing pal, but it's hard to grade form pics as it is. I would say that 1, 3 & 4 are XF. 1 & 3 I would say XF45 - both appear the have luster remaining. But they show wear on the high points - bonnet, hair etc on the obverse and the eagle's breast and wingtips on the reverse. Now compare number 4 to 1 & 3. See how it has more wear in those same areas ? And while it appears that there may be some underlying luster - I think has been dipped one too many times - but just may be the pic. So I would give it XF40. Now #2 has even more wear in those areas - and appears to have little luster. So I would say VF30/35. One of the hardest things to do when grading is to NOT undergrade. I would say more collectors probably undergrade than they do overgrade. Keep that in mind. But don't go bumping your grades up because of it - just keep it in mind. With a little time and practice - it'll come to you
