No idea here either, tho it looks like an interesting hobby.
Why in the world would an astronaut or their family ever want to part with these.
Its U.S history at its finest!!!

Things from space missions are hotly pursued in general. Moon Rocks are particularly exciting.

I may be wrong but I remember hearing that moon rocks are illegal to own. It looks like some of these coins/medals have actually been in space.

I had some association with Rocketdyne during Mercury, Gemini, Apollo & then later with the Shuttle. The medals (and flown parts) we collected then were very low cost as compared to the high prices in the link. I personally like the Gemini 12 medal in your link & I'd like to post the photo but CT isn't letting me do it from this page. I'm not an expert but there have been several medals from private mints which contain material that has flown. Medals issued by NASA, medals that have flown, & medals presented to astronauts are obviously very sought after.Very best regards,collect89

CT is now letting me post the photo

I like this Gemini medal. It has flown & has the flight date scribed on the reverse.

I was given a medal by a friend who used to work for NASA and got the medal when he was on the launch team. I have it, never took a pic of it yet...it has the space shuttle, the mission name and other stuff...interesting but not that terribly attractive. Other than that...no...I dont collect them :)

If I am reading these auctions correctly these medals were in the collections of astronauts and were in space. Also thanks for posting the pics.

I picked up this card the other day at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. They were hosting the 25th Annual Space Symposium (March 30 - April 2). The card was used to open doors and to charge things to the user's room.

The broadmore is the one with the deer on the front door?

Hmmm, I'm not sure if they have a deer on the front door or not. They do have two mounted bison heads inside the portico.

The Broadmoor Hotel is one of only a few 5-star hotels in the US. I think they have held their 5-star rating longer than any other in the US. Last year the US Senior Open was held at the Broadmoor Golf Course.

    Hello Lost,
I don't recognize your medal. I suspect it is one that was minted by a private mint such as the Franklin mint. Lovell had a great career as an astronaut.

Ruben, it hit me what you were asking. The hotel in Colorado Springs that you are thinking about is the Antlers.

    Sorry for the thread drift.
