Well friends, I would like to introduce you to the latest purchase for the RickieB Collection...:D :D

They are consecutive numbered Series 1907 $5 Woodchopper Notes that have the engraving error on the "reverse" Public is spelled "Pcblic" with the "C" instead of the required "U".
Look under the words "Face Value and the first Pcblic is the one I am talking about"...a few words down and the correct spelling of Public is present.

I am so thrilled to have these....it was a toss up between a few notes and this was the first pair selected. There will be one to follow later on in April.

I hope you enjoy these and preliminary opinion is that one is a 65 and the other a 66 ( 66 one on top due to centering and margins) keeping my fingers crossed until they return!!

Thank you for taking the time to take a look.
Will post better pics once they return.

*****An engraving error is observed on line six of the obligation clause on the back. The error can best be seen by comparing the first "C" in "PCBLIC" on line six with the "U" in "Public" on line eight using magnification.*****

    Regards,

    RickieB

Now that is cool! I wonder how they were found. Is it known for these notes or someone kept studying/looking at them? Great work!

    Noost...

I am not (yet) 100% sure when the Plate error was discovered, but when it was it was not used any longer. I am digging a little into now to find out more. I have been away at work for several weeks and have not had the time to investigate nor be on CT much. As a matter of fact I just drove home from the Airport!

I will let you know what I find....

    Thanks for taking a look!!

    Great News!!!

The note with the smaller margins came back as a 63 PPQ and the note on top (in the picture) came back as a 66PPQ WOW!!!! I am a happy guy!!

That top note alomst pays for them both....giggle:thumb::thumb:;);)

Will post better images when I get em back...

These notes were from an uncutt sheet that was cut aprox 50 years ago, so I was told by the former owner!

Noost... I have a Dealer friend that was at the Baltimore Show... I was supposed to go but had other things come up. He walked them through for me...a little more pricey, but no wait!

    I am thrilled!!

great notes as the 66 PPQ attests to! the 63 might be a little low for the one note i think. even with the margains, but it is what it is!!

    they are both very nice!!!
