The Nickel appears to have been struck to low on the Head side. Raised portion of coin starts at the e in we gradually increases in width and narrows back to the t in Liberty. Counterclockwise from the e back to the t there is no rimline and no open space below the shoulder dressing. Top of the 8 in the date is partially gone and the 3 is half exposed. The Nickel as a whole is the exact size of a normal Nickel. Maybe it's uncommon but I don't here of many Nickel mis-stamps. Does anyone have knowledge of what I have based on the description? The Coin is in good condition as it is worn.
If it is only like that on the obverse (heads) and the reverse (tails) is normal then it sounds like a mis-aligned die error. Usually of little or no value, but if part of the design is actually missing as you say then it would have at least a small premium.
