They are a range of dates from 1909-1958, basically unsearched. I'm wondering before I buy. Let me know, thanks.
From a picture on local classifieds it shows a huge pile of wheat cents and say that they're unsearched and go into rolls. I want to believe what they're saying. Even if they're searched and I get commons, they're still only 5 cents a piece!
If possible, I would get One roll, leave the area and check it out, if you see some good 'uns , go back and get more.
Basically that is a common price area. Usually 2.25-2.75 is average for "unsearched" or full roll of common date. Watch the shipping, that is where it can get rough. Usually best if you can get enough to fill a flat rate box. Make sure they will ship to Canada. Jim
I'm planning to get 8 rolls. One day even commons will be worth something, but most importantly I'll have fun going through the cents. Getting any wheat cents in Canada is tough, I'm glad I found this deal.
It is a fair price for a wheat cent roll, however if you think it is truly unsearched roll because of a huge pile of wheat cents........I have a bridge I will gladly sell you. It seems like a fair price to fill holes in your album. Odds are that the condition of the coins will be AVG Circulated.
I buy my bags at $270 in most cases. I sell my searched bags at $200 ( they then end up on the bay as unsearched) I sell my unsearched bags ( unsearched by me, a time factor ) for $350 Unless you find a true honest source, and they do exsist, I would avoid the " unsearched " lots........but, $2.30 a roll is fair. Like said above, test a roll or two. you won't lose but a dollar or two and a few minutes
I think unsearched Wheat Cents is an urban myth. Some honest dealers will add the statement "unsearched by them" I saw something on one of those coin TV shows. The guy Shaun , you know Robert Chambers former prodigy , was selling a big bunch of wheat cents that were supposedly unsearched. Now while he was going through these cents showing off the assortment, he stumbled across an Indian head cents. He made the comment "oh that is one is going in my pocket." I will not comment on that part. I would like to have some at that price myself. I am trying to fill up my glass pig with them. Have been finding a few in change lately but will take forever to fill this thing up.
THINK! How would anyone know they are all from 09 to 58 unless they DID SEARCH? A person has to search those to see what the dates are. Probably all worn, beat, common date ones. UNSEARCHED anything is really dumb. If I said I had a bill in my wallet with all 2's for the serial number but I never looked at it, would you believe me?
"One day even commons will be worth something" This is the funniest thing I've heard in a while. I think I'll make this my next t-shirt design and on the back I'll put. "But I'll be long dead by then" ...hahahaha Commons won't be worth jack until your great grandkids are grand parents.
But do let us know what you find! FWIW, I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that: (a) wheaties are so darn rare in circulation, and on the other hand (b) the average value of an average circulated wheaties is just a few pennies. I guess it's old supply-and-demand . . . i.e., that the supply is very low, but so is the demand . . . I guess . . .
Don't expect these to be unsearched. Wheat cents are going for a nickel a piece whether they are searched or lying about them (unsearched). You won't be out more than twenty bucks anyway, so give in and buy them!
This was a bag find, PCGS XF-40 strong reverse Heres the thread: http://www.cointalk.com/forum/t40696/
