HI! I have a double eyed, or headed, lincoln wheat penny. I know it is an error coin, but I think it might be worth something. The date on it is 1925, 8, 6, 9 I cant really tell. Its hard to describe it though. It kinda looks like the die struck it twice, or mabye it struck it wrong because there is a "crack" that seperates the two heads. Can you help me with this? Well, not exactly. It's 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc. By all means, please do post a picture, and just for your protection, posting your e-mail address is a bad idea. This is a public forum, and you are subject to be added to countless spam lists.
It looks like chemical damage with an image that your eye thinks looks like Lincoln. The eye wants to make logic out of everything it sees.
hmmmmm look at the 'crack" it is a raised area on the coin that you can feel if you touch it. i dont think a chemical could have done that?
If the chemical removed surface metal it would. If it were only partially covered this would happen. With the state of this coin I am very confident everything on it is corrosion and chemical damage. The pinkish color in the pics usually is a dead giveaway for chemical stripping.
