Hi all, I want to thank each and every one of you by helping me gathering the idea of Banknote collecting and Russian Banknote as well I have raed that there were 2 credit notes that Russian published at the end of 1918 - 25 Rouble and 100 Rouble. I have found some pictures of the notes (I'm not sure of it) the resamble an American Dollar that's why I think I'm right about them. I want to know more about the notes: the size of the notes - 25 R and 100 R. Who are the figures on the Bank notes (looks like two females) _ iwould be glad to know more about them (or to be directed to a page with info about the notes) I want to know the detailes on the Obs and Rev of the two Bank notes. I would be glad if you'll help me with the info I need Thanks in advanced TQ
The notes were printed by ABNco in 1918, some of them were delivered, but a large stock of them never made it there. For the central vignette the feminine subject was a stock image, imposed on a created background emblematic of Russia, with the double eagle shield. It can be surmised that the background is supposed to be Sankt Peterburg/Petrograd/Leningrad. The reverse of the note has the Russian eagle, and the State Duma below. At the time of the Russian revolution, the State Duma was the main power branch of government until the Bolsheviks took control of the whole country. The 100 ruble note is similar, but with a feminine vignette in the centre of the note that was used on many other nations banknotes, El Salvador, Ecuador notable amongst them.
Thank you very very much you helped me so much - thanks!!! I just want to make sure that I understand: the females in the pictures are not famous and they are there because they wanted to have feminine subject - that's why they used them(?) thanks for you kind help scottishmoney I have one thing left open - can you help me with that: What was the size of the notes? were they in the same size? (in mm ) - I never saw notes like these so I have no idea. Thank you all TQ
