    Just curious if anyone makes an album for world silver dollars. I think it would be neat to have a set. Are the sizes more or less uniform? Canada, China, Australia, Mexico, ect?

    I know from what I've seen some of the "silver" Dollar sized coins from other countries are various sizes But if what you are collecting is about 1 oz of silver you may be able to fit most of your collection in a Dansco Silver Round album.

    FWIW, Australian silver dollars issued by the Royal Australian Mint (RAM) are mostly NCLT - Non-Circulating Legal Tender - precious metal (or "bullion") coins with a much lower nominal (or "face") value - one ounce fine silver (31.6 g, Ø 40.6 mm). They are commemoratives in most years since 1996 and kangaroos annually since 1993.

    The circulation dollars are smaller, gold-coloured aluminium bronze (92% Cu, 6% Al, 2% Ni), weigh 9 g and have Ø (diameter) 25 mm. There are also silver proofs of these coins for every year after 1991, intended as collectibles, sometimes in two distinct forms.

    So, just for the collectible Australian silver dollars issued by the RAM, you'd need to accommodate diameters of 40.6 mm (about 1.5 inches) and 25 mm (about 1.0 inch).

    Then there's the Perth Mint, which was originally a branch of the (British) Royal Mint, and is now a statutory authority of the State of Western Australia. It is responsible (in addition to the RAM) for minting NCLT coins - some of which are denominated in dollars. The bullion coins, which all are denominated by weight (mostly) in terms familiar to Americans, include silver dollars (1 oz) of the same weight and fineness as those from the RAM, eg Kookaburras in 1992-2004, and the first Lunar Series (i.e. Chinese zodiac) in 1999-2010. Yes, they've already issued the 2010 coins! :eek:dd:

    By the way, the Perth Mint also has a whole lot of commemorative coins, including some 1 oz silver, that I haven't touched on above ...

    {And would you believe that the 2 oz Proof Gold Nugget coins, denominated as $200 (belonging to the Famous Nugget Series in 1986-88 and the Kangaroo Series thereafter), will fit snugly in your dollar album? As will the 99.95% platinum, 2 oz, $200 Koalas. Yes, they all have the same diameter, viz. 40.60 mm. But you wouldn't want to put them in the album, would you, since each comes in its own presentation case. And each of these is just one of a set of 8 sizes, from 1/20 oz to 10 oz, plus 1 kg (about 32 oz). Oh well, a complete collection'd make a nice nest egg for retirement!}
    But supposing you're sticking to "silver-dollar-sized" coins, for Australia, that mostly means the two diameters I mentioned above - 25 mm and 40.6 mm, or 1" and 1½".

    Then there's all those other countries! :yawn:

    Hope this helps!
