Looking at ASEs for 2020 - some were made at San Fran and Philly although they don't have mint marks. Is there any way to tell where they came from ? If you bought a sleeve would it be marked and sealed ?They are bullion right ? They can't be used as currency right? Not that anyone would use them that way. Why am I asking so many questions ? Must be all the coffee
Not marked on the tube, and where they were minted doesn’t matter, in regards to the bullion version. Any claims otherwise are just for marketing (getting more money from the buyer). Apmex, I think it is, has tubes that they themselves ‘seal’ with a ‘mint direct’ label, but not sure if it gives any indication where minted, not that it matters, as previously stated. One exception to where minted would be if some anomaly (error) was discovered to be from a specific mint/die, but I have not heard of such a discovery.
If you get a graded one you can tell, but for raw you need a sealed monster box. The market has shown they have different prices just dont pay the higher price for a raw one because someone says to trust them
According to Mike "The Mouth" Mezack (and you can take it with a grain of salt) there were serial numbers on each Green Monster box that identified where they were minted. You had to submit the entire, unopened box for grading to get the SF mintmark.
Exactly right they have to be slabed or certified rite out the monster green box from the mint, the only way you'll know for sure!
Don't sweat the small stuff, and above all, don't sweat the 's' less, 'd' less, 'p' less stuff. It don't count, unless you're a squillions little bean counter only adept at acquiring every 'eagle' that's ever been minted.
It's all part of loving the hobby how you want to collect ,so I guess (,to spite all my rage I'm still just a rat in a cage,)
I believe the ASEs from SF and P were only made in smallish runs compared to the rest of 2020 ASEs and if you like shiny plastic boxes with colored paper tags inside with a piece of silver you can buy about 5 different versions for 2020, since unlike ammo, silver is still available
Sorry sometimes my sense of humor and witt get the best of me! Oh yes and give that man cigar ,smashing pumpkins it is!
I really prefer walker half's Benji's SLQ, ,s for my silver, I was answering the question really not into chasing down monster box,s but if you want one from each mint ,that's the deal!
If people enjoy collecting invisible stuff, so be it. To me it's like collecting 'dateless' buffalo nickels'.
Here's the bottom line would the experts or the third party graders consider it a complete set with out them? Now that's a fair question? even a 13 buff can be identified without a date
