I finally got some money to buy more coins and so this is the proof I got in the mail today.

I sent the seller this message:

"Hello. I received the coin in the mail today. I was very disappointed that you taped it to the holder. I'm not sure if you know this, but that is one of the worst things you can do to a coin. I would like a full refund and I am not paying shipping either. Hopefully this will help you in your future dealings."

I was really disappointed that this happened. The guy has 100% feedback and sells other coins. I don't know why someone would do this to any coin, let alone a proof.

He says that shipping charges are non-refundable and I'm going to go off on the guy if he doesn't pay for it.

Nice coin other than that tape stuff on it. Good luck, I'm going through my own ebay dispute with another seller.

Thanks. I guess the picture doesn't show it, but it is not a very nice coin. There is a giant scratch in the bottom right fields.

I got a 1912 lincoln wheat today the same way; taped to printer paper. But on a brighter note (today as well), I got a load of dirt cheap lincoln mem proofs in air tite direct fit holders..and air tites aren't cheap...so I got polar opposite ends of the shipping spectrum today...go figure.

Sorry to hear about your coin.

I bought many coins over the internet and never received one directly taped to an envelope or cardboard ... I would be filling a complaint too.

man, this guy only has one oar in the water. What a piece of work.
If you browse his other items, does he deal primarily in coins?

His 100% feedback should take a serious hit if he cannot make it right.

    See this:

Perhaps this could be a candidate for the stupidest coin packaging.

He is letting me return it for credit, but denies that he taped it to the holder.

You mentioned he has a feedback of 100%, but how many total feedbacks does he have? We've had to return 2 coins from ebay that were SNAD and neither seller refunded return shipping even after a paypal dispute. :(

    255. Seemed alright to me. Maybe the only people that buy from him are blind?

For credit? Do you really want to do business with him again? Somehow that does not seem fair to you. He makes the mistake and still he gets your money. I, personally, would go through PayPal, get my money back, and leave him appropriate feedback. If you want to tell him you plans to cajole him a bit, go for it.

DO NOT get credit. Threaten to leave negative feedback and file a PayPal complaint if that does not work. ;)

Under eBay's inane and rather insane rules, that is referred to as feedback extortion, and will get YOU NARU'ed instead. You are not supposed to make a threat of negative feedback.
